Report My Scan
Take control of reporting your scans
Doctorum is a UK teleradiology reporting platform created by a radiologists with many years of combined experience and our goal is to greatly improve the efficiency of radiology reporting across the UK.
The rate-limiting step in the UK is no longer getting your scan performed, although this can still take many weeks – reporting can now take months with thousands of unreported scans in most NHS Trusts. The Royal College of Radiologists publishes data on reporting times and these vary across Trusts nationally.
Indeed, there are multiple NHS Trusts operating numerous scanners as well as Community Diagnostic Centres, many scanners in the independent sector such as private hospitals, clinics & imaging centres and even scanners in supermarket car parks! However, all these images need to be reported and fully documented, ideally by a UK subspecialist radiologist.
1. Have you had a scan performed either in an NHS Trust or independent hospital, clinic or other imaging facility, but don’t have either the images or a formal report?
2. Would you like a copy of your NHS or private scan together with an accompanying report, as a second opinion by one of our subspecialist radiologists?
3. Have you recently had a NHS scan either in an NHS Trust, supermarket scanner or a private hospital or other independent clinic or imaging centre, but are still awaiting a report? Do you have an NHS or private hospital appointment shortly, but a report by an accredited leading UK reporting specialist is not available?
4. Do you have a CDROM containing images of your radiology or cardiology study, but either no report or would like a specialist report or second opinion?
Doctorum is able to help patients request and retrieve their imaging where available (UK facilities are required to keep medical images for at least 8 years), download them to our servers and make them available to our specialists to render a report either as a primary or further opinion.
We will provide you with a quotation and e-mail you the report securely. We can also help you download scans to your PC or laptop.
How to e-mail images from a DICOM folder or DICOM ZIP file
Medical images provided on a CDROM or nowadays by way of an e-mail link to a server containing the images are provided in DICOM format.
These can be downloaded to your desktop by ‘Right Clicking’ and ‘Saving As’ (create folder name). Allow sufficient download time (often visible near top right of screen). After locating the saved folder, ‘Right Click’ from desktop and create (‘Compress to’) a ZIP file which should also appear on your desktop.
Sometimes the DICOM folder or DICOM ZIP can be shared by ‘Right Clicking’ and ‘Share’ or drag it into your Google Drive (drive.google.com) or into either DropBox or your OneDrive. The latter creates a link whish can be e-mailed to [email protected], and when received, you will be asked to confirm that you are sharing the link to enable Doctorum to download all the DICOM images.
You do not need to send the DICOM reader or other files with it.
How to upload scans sent electronically by Image Exchange Protocol (IEP)
Patients are entitled to request a copy of their scans and many imaging facilities will send an e-mail link to these images. Doctorum will help patients request these scans using the Subject Access Record, support their download to laptops and other personal computers and facilitate a prompt formal report from one of our true subspecialists sent directly to your mailbox.
The following instructions may be useful when using Sectra’s IEP:
Instructions for uploading scans on CD-ROM's
Doctorum will help patients with existing imaging on CDROMs upload the scans in DICOM format to the company server to facilitate provision of a formal report (which may be a first report or a second opinion (but a subspecialist report is guaranteed).
