A note from our founders
"We built Doctorum because we were tired of teleradiology platforms that treated radiologists as interchangeable reporting units. We are consultant radiologists who report every week. We know what it feels like to face an unmanageable worklist, to want peer support on a difficult case, and to want the technology to get out of the way and let you report. Every decision we make at Doctorum is made by radiologists who are still in clinical practice."
- Doctorum Founding Radiologists
Why Radiologists Choose Doctorum
Here is what makes working with us genuinely different.
Owned and Run by Radiologists
Doctorum was founded by consultant radiologists and remains entirely in radiologist ownership. Every operational and clinical decision is made by people who report themselves. You will never have a non-clinical manager telling you how to practise.
Fully Cloud-Based - No Equipment Needed
Our platform runs in any modern browser on any Mac or PC. There is nothing to install, no workstation to purchase, and no IT setup fees. If you have a reliable internet connection and a good-quality monitor, you can start reporting. We can have you onboarded within days.
Flexible Around Your NHS Commitments
Doctorum is designed to fit around your existing practice. Report a handful of cases a week or more when capacity allows. You are in control of your availability at all times.
Transparent, Competitive Fees
We offer clear, per-report fee structures with no hidden deductions. Our Premium Patient-Direct Reporting track pays higher fees, reflecting the expertise our private patients specifically seek and pay for.
UK GMC-Registered Only
Every Doctorum report is produced by a UK GMC-registered consultant radiologist. We do not outsource to overseas hubs or non-GMC-registered practitioners. This is a point of principle for us - and a strong selling point for the patients and NHS trusts who work with us.
Genuine Peer Support
Have a difficult case or want a second view? You have direct access to a Doctorum founding radiologist at all times. This is a peer relationship, not a helpdesk ticket. We operate as a collegiate network, not a production line.
Two Reporting Tracks
Doctorum operates two distinct parts of the business. You may be eligible for one or both, depending on your experience and subspecialty.
NHS Partnership Reporting
Helping NHS trusts tackle the diagnostic backlog
The NHS diagnostic imaging backlog is real, substantial and growing. With nearly one million scan reports delayed beyond 28 days in 2024, NHS trusts across England are actively seeking additional UK reporting capacity from GMC-registered consultants who understand NHS standards and clinical context.
Doctorum's NHS Partnership Reporting track connects you directly to this demand. You report cases in your area of expertise, at a pace that suits your availability.
- Steady NHS workflow matched to your subspecialty
- MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray, mammography and PET CT
- No minimum volume - report when you have capacity
- Competitive per-report fees, paid monthly
- Meaningful clinical contribution at a time of real need
Minimum requirements
FRCR or equivalent CCT • Full GMC registration • Minimum 5 years post-CCT experience • Current professional indemnity insurance
Premium Patient-Direct Reporting
The most experienced superspecialists, reporting for discerning private patients
Doctorum's Premium Patient-Direct Reporting service is a premium, direct-to-patient offering. Patients come to us specifically because they want the highest level of expertise - a true superspecialist, not a generalist covering all modalities. They are paying for that expertise, and our fee structure reflects it.
This is not a high-volume track. It is a selective, high-quality service where the right radiologist is matched to each case. The bar is high by design - and so is the reward.
- Higher per-report fees reflecting premium patient pricing
- Case matching based on your precise subspecialty
- Reports written to a high narrative standard patients can understand
- Selective, lower volume - quality over quantity
- Your credentials and expertise visible to the patients you help
Minimum requirements
All NHS Partnership Reporting criteria, plus: Minimum 15 years post-CCT experience • Recognised superspecialist expertise • Active or recent NHS consultant practice • Subspecialty depth demonstrable by CV
Can I join both tracks? Yes - if you meet the criteria for the Premium Patient-Direct Reporting track, you are eligible for both. Many of our most experienced reporters use the NHS Partnership Reporting track for regular volume work and the Premium Patient-Direct Reporting track for cases that fall within their deepest area of expertise. We will help you find the right balance.
No Equipment. No Setup. Just Log In and Report.
We have removed every barrier between you and reporting. No hardware investment. No complex IT. No waiting weeks for a workstation to be shipped.
Browser-Based PACS Viewer
Our cloud-hosted DICOM viewer requires nothing but a modern browser. Works on Mac or PC. Full window/level tools, multiplanar reconstruction, series navigation and prior comparison available within the platform.
Secure & Fully Compliant
End-to-end encrypted data transfer. DSPT-certified infrastructure. Patient data never leaves secure servers. Full audit trail on all access and reporting activity. Compliant with UK GDPR and NHS data security standards.
Fast Onboarding
Once credentials are verified, we can have you accessing cases within days. There is no lengthy IT procurement, no hardware delivery wait, and no vendor onboarding process that takes weeks. You simply log in.
Report from Anywhere
Home, office, on-call room, or anywhere with a reliable internet connection. All you need is a good-quality monitor (we recommend 1920×1080 or above), a modern browser, and a broadband connection. No VPN or remote desktop required.
Integrated Reporting Workflow
Structured report templates, voice dictation support (compatible with Dragon and browser-based dictation), and direct delivery of completed reports. Prior reports and clinical history are available within the worklist wherever provided by the referring source.
Radiologist Support Team
Any technical issues are handled by a dedicated support contact, not an anonymous helpdesk. And if you ever encounter a clinically complex case and want to discuss it with a colleague, a Doctorum radiologist is always available.

Not sure if you qualify for Premium Patient-Direct Reporting? Get in touch and tell us about your experience. The Premium Patient-Direct Reporting bar is high by design, but we assess each applicant individually and we are straightforward about whether it is the right fit.
How to Join
The process is straightforward. Most radiologists are reporting within one to two weeks of making contact.
Express Your Interest
Drop us an email or call us. Tell us a little about your background - your subspecialties, years of experience, and what you are looking for. There is no formal application form at this stage. We will respond within one working day.
Brief Credentials Check and Conversation
A short call with one of our founding radiologists - a clinical conversation, not a formal interview. We will verify your GMC registration, discuss the reporting tracks you are suited to, go through the practical arrangements, and answer any questions. This usually takes no more than 30 minutes.
Platform Onboarding
We will set up your access to the reporting platform, walk you through the workflow, and confirm your reporting preferences and subspecialty areas. Since our platform is entirely browser-based, there is nothing to install. Onboarding typically takes less than an hour.
Start Reporting - at Your Pace
Cases that match your subspecialty and availability are assigned to your worklist. You report them at a time that suits you, submit via the platform, and your fee is recorded. Monthly payment by BACS with a full itemised statement. A Doctorum radiologist is always available if you want to discuss a case.
Common Questions
Practical answers to the questions we hear most often from radiologists considering joining.
What technology do I need to get started?
A modern computer (Mac or PC), a reliable broadband connection, and a good-quality monitor - ideally 1920×1080 resolution or above. We do not require a medical-grade diagnostic display for most report types; we will discuss specifics during onboarding. No software installation is required.
How much flexibility do I have over how much I report?
Complete flexibility. Doctorum is designed to absorb your available capacity as and when it exists. Your NHS commitments will always take priority, and we understand that your availability varies from week to week.
How and when are fees paid?
Monthly, by BACS transfer, with a full itemised statement showing every report completed and the fee attributed. There are no hidden deductions. We will provide a full fee schedule before you start reporting. Premium Patient-Direct Reporting track fees are higher than NHS Partnership Reporting to reflect the premium nature of that service.
Do I need to set up a limited company?
Not necessarily. We can work with radiologists as sole traders or through a limited company. Most of our reporters use a personal service company, which is common in consultant-level medical practice. Our team can advise on what arrangements others use, though we recommend you take independent tax advice.
What indemnity do I need?
You are responsible for maintaining professional indemnity insurance that covers teleradiology reporting activity. Most MDU, MPS and MDDUS policies cover this, but it is worth confirming the scope of your current cover before you begin. We can share what arrangements our existing reporters use.
What modalities and subspecialties do you need?
We report across MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography, X-ray and nuclear medicine including PET CT. Subspecialty areas include MSK, neuroradiology, body imaging, breast imaging, vascular, paediatric, interventional and more. We match cases to reporters based on subspecialty - you will not be asked to report outside your area of expertise.
What happens if I have a difficult or complex case?
You have direct access to a Doctorum founding radiologist at all times. If you want to discuss a case, share images, or get a second view before submitting your report, pick up the phone or send a message. This is a peer relationship - no helpdesk tickets, no escalation processes. Just a colleague who is usually available.
I am currently based outside the UK - can I still join?
All Doctorum reports must be produced by UK GMC-registered consultants. If you maintain full GMC registration and a licence to practise but are temporarily based abroad, please get in touch to discuss your individual circumstances. We will be straightforward about whether the arrangement can work.
Let's Have a Conversation.
There is no lengthy application process. Contact us, tell us about your background, and we will get back to you within one working day. If it looks like a good fit, we will arrange a brief call with one of our founding radiologists - a conversation between colleagues, not a formal interview.
We are always interested in hearing from experienced UK consultant radiologists, regardless of subspecialty. Whether you are looking for a few extra cases a month or a more regular arrangement, we will find an approach that works.
All enquiries are treated in strict confidence.
