About Dr Quddus
Dr Ayyaz Quddus is a UK consultant radiologist at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, having been appointed in 2023 following the award of a dual CCT in both diagnostic and interventional radiology — a distinction held by relatively few radiologists in the UK. He graduated in medicine from the University of Nottingham in 2014, holding a first class honours degree in medical sciences (BMedSci), and obtained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2016 before pursuing radiology.
He completed all of his radiology training at the Royal Free Hospital in London, one of the UK's foremost teaching hospitals for interventional and cross-sectional imaging. During his training he gained additional experience at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Queen Square, Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College Hospital.
His specialist interests centre on oncological diagnostic imaging, vascular and hepatobiliary imaging, and upper gastrointestinal radiology. He leads the regional oesophagogastric multidisciplinary team (MDT) at Royal Surrey and contributes to the hepatobiliary MDT. He has a particular interest in diffusion-weighted whole body MRI for oncological staging — an advanced technique that provides comprehensive tumour assessment across the entire body without ionising radiation.
His published research includes work on the role of imaging in vascular malformations, reflecting his dual grounding in both diagnostic and interventional techniques.

Obtain Your ReportScans Dr Quddus Reports
Dr Quddus has hands-on clinical experience reporting all of the following scan types. Whatever your imaging, you can be confident it is being reviewed by a specialist who has spent years working with it.
MRI
Abdominal, hepatobiliary and whole body MRI, including advanced diffusion-weighted whole body MRI for oncological staging — a specialist technique that provides comprehensive tumour assessment without radiation.
CT
CT of the chest, abdomen and pelvis, with specialist experience in oncological staging, vascular assessment and hepatobiliary and upper gastrointestinal CT including staging and treatment response.
Ultrasound
Abdominal, hepatobiliary and vascular ultrasound. Real-time imaging using sound waves with no radiation, used for liver, gallbladder, kidneys and abdominal vessel assessment.
X-Ray
Chest, abdominal and general plain-film radiography. The most common imaging modality, used to assess a wide range of conditions across the chest and abdomen.
Interventional Radiology
Image-guided minimally invasive procedures across vascular and oncological interventional radiology. Dr Quddus holds a dual CCT in both diagnostic and interventional radiology — an advanced qualification held by relatively few UK radiologists.
Not sure which type of scan you have? We will identify it for you. Simply get in touch and we will confirm the modality and match your images to the right specialist before any report is produced.
Clinical Expertise
Dr Quddus has developed focused subspecialty expertise across oncological, vascular and upper gastrointestinal radiology, underpinned by a dual CCT reflecting mastery of both diagnostic and interventional techniques.
Oncological Imaging
Specialist in cancer staging, treatment response assessment and follow-up imaging across CT, MRI and whole body diffusion MRI. Trained at the Royal Free Hospital and St Luke's Cancer Centre, with particular experience in upper GI and hepatobiliary malignancies.
Vascular & Hepatobiliary Imaging
Subspecialty expertise in vascular imaging and hepatobiliary radiology across CT, MRI and ultrasound. Contributes to the regional hepatobiliary MDT at Royal Surrey County Hospital, providing specialist imaging support for liver, biliary and pancreatic disease management.
Upper Gastrointestinal Imaging
Leads the regional oesophagogastric MDT at Royal Surrey County Hospital, providing specialist radiological input for the staging and management of oesophageal and gastric cancers. Experienced in CT and MRI staging for upper GI malignancy.
Interventional Radiology
Dual CCT-qualified in interventional radiology, covering the full range of vascular and non-vascular image-guided procedures. Training completed at the Royal Free Hospital - one of the UK's leading centres for interventional radiology.
Whole Body Diffusion MRI
A particular clinical interest in diffusion-weighted whole body MRI (WBDWI) - an advanced MRI technique used for comprehensive oncological assessment. WBDWI allows full-body tumour staging and monitoring without ionising radiation, and is increasingly used alongside or instead of PET-CT in selected cancers.
Cross-Sectional Imaging
Broad consultant-level experience in cross-sectional CT and MRI across all body regions. His training at the Royal Free Hospital, with additional exposure at Queen Square, Great Ormond Street and University College Hospital, provides a strong general diagnostic foundation alongside his subspecialty interests.
