About Dr Halls

Dr James Halls is a consultant radiologist at Great Western Hospital, Swindon, and one of the most experienced members of the Doctorum reporting team. A graduate of Imperial College London, he holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) and has worked at consultant level for over 13 years, building extensive expertise across gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and paediatric radiology alongside a broad general cross-sectional practice.

His subspecialty interests encompass the full range of GI and hepatobiliary imaging - from liver and biliary tract assessment to oncological staging of upper and lower gastrointestinal malignancies. He is also experienced in uroradiology and paediatric imaging, making him one of the more versatile members of the team in terms of the breadth of cases he can review with subspecialty knowledge.

In addition to his clinical role, Dr Halls holds the position of Examiner for the Royal College of Radiologists - a role reserved for consultants of demonstrable clinical and academic standing, responsible for setting and marking the rigorous FRCR examinations that all UK radiologists must pass to achieve consultant status. He also contributes to Radiopaedia, the global radiology reference platform used by radiologists worldwide.

Alongside his NHS work, Dr Halls practises privately through Berkshire Imaging, based in Winnersh, Wokingham, and now provides expert reporting through Doctorum for patients seeking a consultant radiologist opinion on their scans.
