About Dr Halls
Dr James Halls is a consultant radiologist at Great Western Hospital, Swindon, and one of the most experienced members of the Doctorum reporting team. Ultrasound
General abdominal, hepatobiliary and soft tissue ultrasound. Experienced in ultrasound-guided procedures and both adult and paediatric ultrasound, covering a wide range of clinical indications.
X-Ray
Chest, abdominal and general plain-film radiography. The most common imaging modality, used for a wide range of clinical indications across the thorax and abdomen.
Non-Vascular Interventional
Image-guided non-vascular interventional procedures including biopsy, drainage and other percutaneous techniques. Safe and precise minimally invasive procedures performed under ultrasound or CT guidance.

Gastrointestinal Imaging
Subspecialty expertise in cross-sectional imaging of the gastrointestinal tract including MRI and CT staging of colorectal, upper GI and small bowel malignancies. Experienced in CT colonography and MRI rectal staging, as well as imaging of inflammatory bowel disease and other benign GI pathology.
Hepatobiliary Imaging
Specialist in the imaging of the liver, biliary tract, gallbladder and pancreas across CT, MRI and ultrasound. Experienced in characterisation of liver lesions including hepatocellular carcinoma and metastases, and in MRCP for biliary and pancreatic duct assessment.
Paediatric Radiology
Experienced in the reporting of paediatric imaging across CT, MRI and ultrasound. Paediatric radiology demands a distinct skill set, with different normal appearances, pathologies and radiation dose considerations compared to adult imaging. Dr Halls provides specialist interpretation for children's scans across a range of indications.
Uroradiology
Specialist expertise in imaging of the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Experienced in CT urography for haematuria investigation, MRI of the bladder and staging of renal cell carcinoma, transitional cell carcinoma and other urological malignancies.
General Cross-Sectional Imaging
Broad consultant-level experience in CT and MRI across all body regions, built over 13+ years at Great Western Hospital. Able to provide expert reporting on general chest, abdominal and pelvic imaging alongside his subspecialty areas, making him well suited to complex or multi-system cases.
