About Dr Idriz
Dr Sanjin Idriz is a consultant radiologist at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, where he serves as Lead for Head, Neck and Thyroid Imaging. He read Natural Sciences at Churchill College, University of Cambridge, graduating with an MA, before completing his medical degree (MBBS) at the Royal Free and University College London Medical School. He leads the regional multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings for head and neck, thyroid and parathyroid conditions at Royal Surrey County Hospital - clinical forums where complex cases are reviewed by specialists to determine the best course of treatment. He is experienced in image-guided procedures including prostate MRI-targeted biopsy and drainage procedures of the head and neck.
A committed educator, he trains radiology registrars within the Kent, Surrey and Sussex deanery and delivers teaching to medical and ENT junior staff. His published research includes work on prostate biopsy procedures, mesenteric panniculitis, paediatric skull CT anatomy and inflammatory bowel disease imaging.

Head and neck ultrasound including thyroid, parathyroid and cervical lymph node assessment. Experienced in ultrasound-guided interventional procedures including fine needle aspiration (FNA) and drainage procedures.
X-Ray
Chest, abdominal and general plain-film radiography. Used across a wide range of clinical presentations and as part of the broader oncological and general imaging workload.
Image-Guided Procedures
MRI-guided prostate biopsy and image-guided drainage procedures of the head and neck. Experienced in both diagnostic and therapeutic image-guided interventions across CT, MRI and ultrasound platforms.

Head & Neck Imaging
Lead radiologist for the regional head and neck, thyroid and parathyroid MDTs at Royal Surrey County Hospital. Specialist in CT and MRI staging of head and neck malignancies - including laryngeal, pharyngeal, oral cavity and salivary gland cancers - and assessment of cervical lymphadenopathy and thyroid nodules.
Uroradiology & Prostate MRI
Subspecialty expertise in uroradiology including multiparametric prostate MRI (mpMRI) for prostate cancer detection and staging. Experienced in CT urography for haematuria investigation and MRI-guided prostate biopsy procedures, contributing to more accurate diagnosis and reduced overtreatment of prostate disease.
Thyroid & Parathyroid Imaging
Specialist in ultrasound and cross-sectional imaging of the thyroid and parathyroid glands. Leads the regional thyroid and parathyroid MDT, providing specialist radiological input for the assessment and management of thyroid nodules, thyroid malignancy and parathyroid disease.
Oncological & Cross-Sectional Imaging
Broad experience in oncological cross-sectional imaging across CT and MRI, including staging and treatment response assessment for urological tract and bowel malignancies. Trained via a body imaging fellowship at St George's Hospital London, one of the capital's major oncological imaging centres.
Gastrointestinal & Inflammatory Bowel Imaging
Experienced in cross-sectional imaging of the bowel including MRI enterography and CT for inflammatory bowel disease, mesenteric panniculitis and bowel malignancy staging. Research contributions in the imaging of bowel and abdominal pathology.
Second Opinions on Head, Neck & Urological Imaging
